πΊπΈ About This Site
The story behind Federal Holiday Countdown β and why we built it.
What Is Federal Holiday Countdown?
FederalHolidayCountdown.com is a free, real-time countdown tool showing exactly how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds remain until every U.S. federal holiday β all on one page, updated live every second.
We built it because we kept asking the same question: "When is the next federal holiday?" β and we wanted an answer that was instant, visual, and accurate. No calendars to scroll through, no date math, just a live countdown front and center.
What We Cover
The site tracks all 11 official U.S. federal holidays as designated by Congress and administered by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM):
- π New Year's Day β January 1
- βπΎ Martin Luther King Jr. Day β 3rd Monday in January
- π¦ Presidents' Day β 3rd Monday in February
- πΉ Memorial Day β Last Monday in May
- ποΈ Juneteenth β June 19
- π Independence Day β July 4
- π¨ Labor Day β 1st Monday in September
- β Columbus Day β 2nd Monday in October
- ποΈ Veterans Day β November 11
- π¦ Thanksgiving Day β 4th Thursday in November
- π Christmas Day β December 25
Each holiday is shown with its official observed date (accounting for weekend shifts), a live countdown timer, and a unique color and icon. When a holiday passes, it automatically rolls over to next year's date so the list always stays current β no refreshes needed.
Who Is This For?
Federal Holiday Countdown is useful for anyone who wants to know when the next day off is β whether you're a federal employee planning leave, a business owner scheduling around closures, a student counting down to a break, or just someone who loves a good countdown.
The site is free, works on any device, and can be installed as an app on your iPhone or Android phone directly from your browser β no App Store required.
Our Data Source
Holiday dates are sourced from the official U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) federal holiday schedule. We update the dates annually to reflect the official observed dates for the current and upcoming year.
